BURLINGTON, Vt. – Five Bangor Police Athletic League boxers advanced to the second round of the Northern New England Golden Gloves Championships held Saturday night at the Memorial Auditorium.

Robbie Achorn of Brewer scored a second-round technical knockout over Chris Bower of Vermont in the 156-pound class and Jason Foley of Bangor notched a unanimous decision over Michael Keogh of Vermont in the 178-pound class.

Other Bangor PAL boxers advancing with first-round byes were Richard Perreault (139 pounds), Chad McAuliffe (147) and defending heavyweight champion Josh McAuliffe. The tourney resumes Feb. 2 in Burlington.
