Larry Mahoney maintains his two-game NEWS Football Forecast lead, but several places changed hands. Mahoney (16-4 last week) is 105-35, .750, with John Nash (17-3) and Andrew Neff (18-2) next at .736 after seven weeks.

Pete Warner (15-5) fell back into a tie for fourth with Bill Warner (17-3) at .729. Dave Barber had a season’s best 19-1 and is sixth at .721 followed by Joe McLaughlin (17-3, .707), Mike Dowd (17-3, .700), and Joni Averill (14-6, .686).

Last week’s guest, Kevin Sjoberg of Caribou, had a strong 16-4, giving the guests to date a 97-43 mark.

This week’s guest is former Brewer High athlete Bob Bissell. Bissell starred for the Witches in baseball, basketball, and football. The big southpaw pitcher was named MVP and was scouted by the pros. He was All-State as running back, and was a hoop standout as well.

Bissell played football for one year at the University of Maine before transferring to UM-Presque Isle where he played basketball and was All-Conference in baseball. Bob, who has his own insurance agency, is the father of Alicia, 2, and Patrick, 9. He and his wife, Debbie, live in Bangor.
