LEWISTON – Abbey DeRocker’s sacrifice fly in the 10th inning of the first game helped Bates post a doubleheader sweep of Husson in Monday softball action.
The Bobcats won the opener 6-5 and the nightcap 8-4.
In the opener, Laura Lent hit a solo home run and singled for Bates to back the complete-game effort of Becki Gasior.
For Husson of Bangor, which stranded 15 baserunners, Mel Deyone doubled and singled and T.J. Bard had two singles. Angela Brawn added a double.
In the second game, Shannon Browher led the way for the Bobcats with a double and two singles.
Freshman Kelly Dow paced the Braves, who committed six errors, with a two-run homer and an RBI triple. Dawn Doucette and Sami Hibbard singled twice each.

UMPI sweeps MMA
At Presque Isle, the University of Maine-Presque Isle pounded out 43 hits in two games on Monday to sweep a doubleheader from Maine Maritime Academy. The Owls took the first game 14-6 and beat the Mariners 17-9 in the second.
In the first game, Cindy Trapnell went 4-for-4 with a homer, double and two singles to lift UMPI.
Stacy Ryan laced a pair of doubles and drove in two runs for MMA. Amanda Hanlon ripped a pair of singles.
In the second game, Heather Norsworthy had five hits, including a home run, double and three singles, scored three runs and knocked in two for the Owls.
Hanlon had four singles for Maine Maritime and scored twice. Christina Partridge registered two singles and three RBIs.

At Brunswick, John Perry tossed a six-hitter, striking out nine to lead Bowdoin College over St. Joseph’s College.
Dave DeCew, the nation’s leading hitter, went 2-for-4 with a double and single for the Polar Bears.
Chris Lord ripped a pair of doubles for the Monks of Standish.
