Thibodeau pitches Old Town to victory

OLD TOWN – Jason Thibodeau held Hampden Academy to two runs over seven innings while striking out eight as Old Town picked up a 7-2 victory in high school baseball action Thursday.

Old Town’s Jason Sirois doubled and singled and Jamie Kennedy hit a two-run double. Thibodeau doubled.

Shawn Tardif singled twice and knocked in a run for Hampden. Brad Basso doubled and singled and Adam Morrell singled twice.

Bucksport 13, Ellsworth 0

At Bucksport, Craig Harvey limited Ellsworth to two hits, striking out 11, to lead the Golden Bucks.

Harvey also hit a two-run homer, an RBI double and an RBI single. Buzz Simpson hit a solo homer and a run-scoring single. Jason Gifford added a two-run single and an RBI double.

Ryan Manjuck and Jon Wood each singled for Ellsworth.

At Newport, Josh Johnson hit an RBI triple and an RBI single as Bangor cruised.

Jim Shea added two doubles and two RBIs for the Rams. Josh Civiello slapped a two-run double in the third and Shawn Bouchard knocked a two-run double in the sixth.

B.J. Bowden hit an RBI double for Nokomis. Justin Veazie doubled and singled and Brandon Cossar hit an RBI single.

At Harrington, Bruce Hall hit a grand slam that highlighted a seven-run first inning for Narraguagus.

Hall also singled and Zac Gage-Croll singled twice and doubled to drive in three runs.

Marlon Lutz hit a two-run triple for Woodland.

At Old Town, Tara Drinkwater tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none to earn the victory.

Drinkwater aided her cause with a triple, double, single and three RBIs for the Indians. Erin Ouellette singled four times and Meghan King doubled, singled twice and knocked in a run.

Sarah Trask doubled for Hampden in the second inning.

At Bucksport, Lyndsy Patten won a pitching duel by scattering seven hits over seven innings while striking out five and walking one.

Rachel Smallidge went 4-for-4 with three singles and a double. Patten tripled.

Nikki Sheehan was saddled with the loss despite pitching a complete game and striking out nine and walking none. Jessica Sawyer singled twice and knocked in both of Bucksport’s runs. Jana Richards doubled.

Narraguagus 14, Woodland 1

At Harrington, Laura Morse and Ashley Woodward combined on a one-hitter striking out 15 and walking six in the Knights’ victory.

Annie Woodsum smacked a three-run double in the third inning and added an RBI single in the fourth. Morse hit two singles and drove in a run. Amber Pinkham, Emily Froese, Woodward and Kate Farnsworth each singled twice.

Angela Robb singled for the Dragons.
