ASHLAND – The Ashland Hornets used the pitching and hitting of Courtney Junkins to upset the Southern Aroostook Warriors 14-4 in schoolgirl softball action Tuesday.
Junkins drove in four runs on two singles. She also pitched a four-hitter, striking out seven.
Sarah Dwyer added three RBIs with a double and a single, and Amy Condon singled twice and drove in a run for the winners.
For the Warriors of Dyer Brook, Rhonda Chambers tripled and singled.

At Limestone, the Eagles scored 10 runs in the first two innings and never looked back.
Chrissy Harvey drove in two runs on a double and two singles. She also scored three times. Sarah Durepo added a two-run single, and Danielle Waugh scored three times with a triple and a single.
For Central Aroostook, Tonya Alexander hit a double and two singles.

At Machias, Tricia Carver pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out 12 to pace the Royals.
Carver also drove in two runs on three singles, and Lindsey Faulkingham added three singles to help Jonesport remain undefeated.
Tracy Guptill and Leann Pritchard singled for Machias.

At Fort Fairfield, Melissa Butler hit a two-run homer and doubled while driving in four runs for Fort Fairfield.
Jess Ireland singled twice and knocked in four for the Tigers.
Danielle Fitzpatrick hit a two-run homer, single and had five RBIs for Hodgdon. Alicia Dwyer doubled and singled.

At Limestone, Ryan Bell, Gordon Godrey, and Shane Bradstreet hit consecutive RBI singles with two outs in the second inning to give the Panthers a 5-0 lead they never relinquished.
Godrey drove in two runs overall with two singles and a double, and Craig Allen added a triple and a single.
For the Eagles, Ricardo Leon hit a two-run single, and Dave Brushett had two singles.

At Woodland, Charlie Worster had a homer, a double and three RBIs to power Lee.
Erik Worster had a double, two singles and two RBIs and Derek Dicker had a double and two singlesfor the winners. Bruce Stevens doubled twice and collected two RBIs and Chris Carr doubled, singled and had two RBIs.
Blair Emery struck out nine and walked four to get the win.
Kris McAlpine had two singles for Woodland, while Chris Bell had a two-run homer.

At Ashland, Chris Webb and Gabe Gordan each had home runs in the fifth inning to put the game away for Southern Aroostook.
Webb had a two-run shot and added three RBIs; Rob Betschner had two singles and Nate Hardy added a two-run homer, an RBI triple and two singles.
Rustin Lovewell homered for Ashland.

At Machias, a two-run homer in the third from Alvin Beal gave the Royals a 4-1 lead, and they held on to defeat Machias.

For the Bulldogs, Kevin Loughlin drove in two.

At Fort Fairfield, James Barton homered, singled twice and knocked in four runs to lead Hodgdon.

Jim Lapointe hit a two-run homer, a two-run single and an RBI single for Fort Fairfield. Ben Arato singled twice and had three RBIs. Brandon Traknis hit an RBI double and an RBI single.
