LEWISTON – The Bates College women staged a 2-0 upset win in college soccer action here Wednesday. The Bobcats had been ranked sixth to Bowdoin’s third place in New England ratings.

Bates goalie Amy Brunner posted her eighth shutout of the season, turning back 16 of 18 shots by the Polar Bears.

Colleen O’Brien scored goals in each half for the 10-1-2 Bobcats. Beth Widmann and Julie Ludden had assists.

Goalkeeper Carolyn Blair-Smith had 10 saves against 23 shot for the 8-4-1 Polar Bears.
