MILLINOCKET – Kevin Elwell provided four RBIs and pitched a complete game to lead West Biddeford to a 7-3 win over Cape Elizabeth for the state championship in Little League baseball in the ages 11-12 division Thursday.
With the win, West Biddeford advances to the Eastern Regional at Bristol, Conn., where it will take on Essex, Vt. on Tuesday, Aug. 10.
Elwell launched a two-run homer in the top of the first for West Biddeford and knocked in the winning run with a two-run single in the fourth. Elwell also fired a four-hitter, striking out six with just three walks. Patrick Fecteau contributed a double while Taylor Nugent and Patrick Lauzon had one single each.
Pat Kertes, Nick Freed, Taylor White and Greg Goldstein each had one single for Cape Elizabeth.
