BANGOR – A Canadian woman was indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday for illegally importing the painkiller Dilaudid into the United States and distributing the drug.

Shyanne Rector, 25, of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, is the second of a reported long list of people soon to be indicted for importation of the Dilaudid. According to officials, the painkiller has become a very popular recreational drug in Washington County.

Rector is charged with conspiring with Brett Reid, 20, of East Machias to import and sell Dilaudid. Reid was recently sentenced to 57 months in prison for illegally dealing Dilaudid. If convicted, Rector faces the possibility of 20 years in prison. She is jailed in Washington County.

Also indicted was Philip Bunnell, 42, of Machias on three counts of possession of child pornography. If convicted, he faces a possible five years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both.
