BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

What amazes me is the lack of morals in this country, and the laxity and ineptness of our justice system. An airline attendent is fondled on the buttocks, in front of passengers, by a man who uses profanity, fights with passengers and crew, and a jury lets him off.

Rod Pinkham was acquitted of molesting his 10-year-old stepdaughter. He had been accused of violence against his first wife. In the BDN he said he playfully wrestled with her and he might have accidentally unbuttoned her pants. The jury acquitted him even with testimony of several incidents by the stepdaughter. Was the jury swayed by a glowing statement by his employer, an important man in the church, about how wonderful a person that Pinkham was?

Only Pinkham, the stepdaughter and God know the truth. However, it’s time morality took over and people of the jury thought about morals and justice. Carl N. Ripley Bangor
