Merrill, Nored pace MMA win

PRESQUE ISLE – Rachel Merrill scored 20 points, hauled down 13 rebounds, and dished out three assists and Jen Nored contributed 17 points and seven rebounds as Maine Maritime Academy triumphed over the University of Maine-Presque Isle 70-60 in women’s basketball action Thursday night.

Kate Lawler had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Mariners, Stacy Jones and Jessica Sawyer scored nine points each, and Lynda Doughty had nine rebounds.

Rachel Larlee had a game-high 26 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocked shots for UMPI.

Kara Dickinson had nine points and Erin Schloeman collared seven rebounds.
