Wilcox, Ferland spur on Old Town

OLD TOWN – Angie Wilcox scored 21 points and Justine Ferland added 20 to power Old Town to a 51-36 schoolgirl basketball victory over Caribou on Monday.

Ferland also grabbed 15 rebounds.

For Caribou, Jessica Cyr popped in 16 points while Sabrina Butler contributed nine.

Boys basketball

At Caribou, James Sam nailed a free throw with one second left to give the Caribou Vikings the victory.

Sam was fouled while driving the lane and made the first of two free throws to break the tie.

He finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Nine of his 17 points came in the fourth quarter as Caribou outscored Old Town 15-6 to erase an eight-point deficit.

Kris Blanchette grabbed seven rebounds.

Jason Thibodeau’s 13 points and Scott Godsoe’s 11 paced Old Town.

At Bangor’s Sawyer Arena, Aaron Saunders had a pair of goals and an assist and Rob Elliott finished with 12 saves as the Witches closed out their season.

Doug Grass, Tony Lorenz, Ryan Largay, Josh Kochis, Jeremiah Richter, and Will Prescott had the other goals for the 6-13-1 Witches.

Craig O’Donnell scored for 1-18 Bonny Eagle of West Buxton and Chad O’Donnell made 32 stops.
