In its Feb. 26-27 edition the Bangor Daily News published yet another article against truck drivers. As the wife of a long-haul truck driver, I am tired of the bashing they get.
Take a look around you. One truck driver or more got it to you. Even if it started off on a plane, ship or train, it still took a trucker. Those same truckers leave their spouses and children for days, weeks or months at a time so you can have all you do. They eat, sleep, watch TV, shower, do laundry out on the road, while you do it in the comforts of your home.
They have a lot to contend with; all those other motorists, many who make the roads unsafe; the weather, road repairs, weigh stations, things any other motorist doesn’t have to think about. My husband won’t drive when he’s tired or weather conditions make it unsafe. So before you’re ready to cut them down, maybe you should thank them instead. Kerry Muriel Presque Isle
