BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

I attended the town meeting in Thomaston regarding Fire Chief Mack Hyler. I was not given the advantages Mr. Hyler was given. By the time I arrived, the meeting was literally over. So much for citizen participation. I have never attended a town meeting in my life and if this is the way they are conducted I do not believe I will again.

As a mother of nine children, seven of them sons, I should be given the right to speak in front the accused. All of our children have the right to be protected from anyone who hurts them. We live in a free country and we should thank God every day for this, but I think this so-called meeting could and should have been handled differently Cheri L. Fontaine Thomaston
