Fly-tying seminar to be held in Greenville

GREENVILLE — On Saturday, April 15, three Greenville area tiers, Bud Fackelman, Danny Legere and John McLeod, will lead a fly-tying workshop to prepare you for the fishing season.

The clinic will be held in the Masonic Temple on Pritham Avenue from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone from beginners to experienced tiers is welcome to attend.

Everyone will receive a full set of colored illustrations for the flies involved including Wool Worm, Wooly Bugger, Black Ghost, Mickey Finn and Elk Hair Caddis. For beginners, the instructors will emphasize the basic skills common to making just about any artificial fly. For more advanced tiers, they teach the importance of proportions and the behavior of the artificial fly in the water.

Legere, of the Maine Guide Fly Shop in Greenville, will demonstrate tying flies while a video camera watches over his shoulder so participants can watch a monitor for easier hand orientation. Fackelman and McLeod will circulate through the room to help partcipants with any quesitons that arise.

The workshop is part of a monthly series of programs sponsored by the Natural Resource Education Center. For informationm call Tarun Johns at 695-2045 or e-mail him at Tarunj@moosehead.net.
