I am writing in response to Lee A. Dickey III’s letter, “Disgrace to Maine” (BDN, April 15-16). I have recently moved to Maine and have found both Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins to be two of the best and brightest politicians in the nation. Does this mean every time a senator votes against our own concern you will go looking for another?
How quickly people forget how Maine’s senators fought for fuel assistance this winter and how visible and accessible they are. If Dickey doesn’t like your own state then he has the right as an American and Mainer to leave. If he wants to change a law, he needs the support of your representatives that he has called a disgrace. His letter seems like a classic exercise in futility. As for me, I feel like Maine is a great state to raise a family and a state that is soundly represented in Washington D.C. Mike Brakel Limestone
