Adrienne Buckley double lifts Sumner past Penquis

EAST SULLIVAN – Senior Adrienne Buckley, in her first varsity at-bat, doubled home the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to lift Sumner to an 8-7 high school softball victory over Penquis of Milo.

Rachel Philio walked and went to third on Jessie Hanson’s single to open the Sumner half of the seventh. Hanson took second when the Patriots tried to get Philio at third. Then Buckley was inserted as a pinch hitter.

Hanson also had a two-run double for the Tigers, Meghan Philio posted a triple and single and Elizabeth Young two singles. Pitcher Jill Osier recorded 14 strikeouts.

Miranda Nichols led Penquis with two singles and two RBIs.

At Lee, Deidra Ham scored the winning run on a delayed steal with two outs as the Pandas earned a victory in eight innings.

Jessie Keuster, Danielle Jipson, Crystal Moors and Desiree Macdonald hit two singles each for Lee Academy. Keuster added a double while Macdonald added a double and four RBI.

Caterina Riitano paced PCHS with two doubles and four RBI while Lacie Hanscom added two doubles. Kalli Pulkkinen tallied a single and double, while Megan Galuski hit two singles.

Christina Wheelwright doubled in two runs for the Windjammers. Starter Toni-Lynn Robbins left the game in the third inning after pulling a tendon in her right (pitching) arm.

Michelle Clukey tripled, singled and knocked in two runs for the Wolverines. Rachel Larlee doubled and singled while Alicia Cram singled twice.

Crandall finished with four singles, a double and six RBIs while Nicki Lyons added a homer, four singles and three RBIs. Desiree Horton rapped a triple, two doubles, two singles and drove in four runs.

Chris Robinson led Katahdin of Sherman Station with a three-run homer and a single. Justin Stevens singled three times and Ryan Robinson knocked a three-run homer.

Emerson struck out nine and walked three. Aaron Civiello provided a double and a single with an RBI and Matt Montgomery doubled and singled for Stearns. Rob Donato added a single and two RBIs.

At Bucksport, Craig Harvey’s two-run homer in the first inning sparked the Golden Bucks’ victory.

Harvey added a double and finished with four RBIs. Winning pitcher Jason Harvey rapped two singles and a double and picked up five RBIs.

Rick McHale hit a triple and single (2 RBIs) and Adam Sheehan singled twice. Jason Harvey struck out eight and walked one in four innings.

For the Red Riots, Al Glossian singled and scored on Daryl Watson’s single in the fifth.

Mike Sirois homer lifts Van Buren past Limestone

VAN BUREN – Mike Sirois hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday, lifting Van Buren to a 10-9 high school baseball victory over Limestone.

Sirois’ home run plated Chanel Wright, who hit a leadoff single. Sirois also had a two-run single for Van Buren. Chris Lajoie doubled and had two RBIs and Sean Violette hit an RBI double.

Steve Hardwick led Limestone with two homers for three RBIs. Pete Bradley hit a solo home run and Adam McPherson drove in two runs on three singles.

Rick Romanelli doubled twice and singled for the Dragons while Matt Lord tripled and singled and Josh Phelps hit an inside-the-park home run. Leadoff hitter Bill Romanelli walked five times, stole three bases and scored four runs.

Ryan Maker and Vinny Emery combined to two-hit the Bulldogs.

For the Bulldogs, Ed St. Pierre hit a two-run single and Peter Whitney singled.

At St. Agatha, the Panthers from Mars Hills treated their hosts roughly in the six-inning affair.

Kyle Larrabee’s three-run home run in the second inning blew the game open. Kyle Simonson hit a three-run blast in the sixth for Central Aroostook.

Jordan Codrey had two singles for the Panthers while his brother Daniel had two singles and an RBI. Larrabee added another single and an RBI. Craig Allen and Jordan Codrey combined to hold Wisdom to two hits.

Ryan Paradis got the Pioneers off to a good start with a three-run home run in the first inning.
