All Saints Catholic School pupil is spelling champ

BANGOR – A pupil from All Saints Catholic School won the Penobscot County Spelling Bee Tuesday, and will now represent the county in the state contest March 23.

Samantha Jennenga was tops among 25 contestants in the bee held at Bangor Christian School. William Prest coordinated the event.

Brittany Crawford, a pupil at Brewer Middle School, was runner-up, and Glenburn pupil Hailee Romain placed third.

The Maine State Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Bangor Daily News, will be held Saturday, March 23, at Eastern Maine Technical College.
