Wiberg paces EM Tech win Center scores 18 points, snatches 18 rebounds in playoff game

BANGOR – Nick Wiberg scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds Tuesday night to pace Eastern Maine Technical College to a 75-56 victory over Unity in a Yankee Conference playoff game at Johnston Gym.

James Osborne netted 17 points and recorded 11 assists for the Golden Eagles. Mike Dow chipped in with 12 points.

For Unity, Aubrey Belanger scored 17 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and had 10 assists while John Lynch added 15 points and Jason Simino had 11.

At Brunswick, the Polar Bears shot 54 percent from the field en route to victory over the Beavers.

Greg Orlicz paced Bowdoin with 23 points, while Danny Ginn and Erich Buschmann scored 10 each.

Tom Nadeau’s 13 points led UMaine-Farmington. Mike Fullerton chipped in with 11.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Freshman guard Taliek Brown had a career-high 21 points, including a huge 3-pointer with 51/2 minutes to play, as Connecticut snapped Boston College’s six-game winning streak.

Xavier Singletary and freshman Ryan Sidney each had 18 points for the Eagles (18-3, 9-2).

At Farmington, freshman and George Stevens Academy graduate Lora Trenkle had 17 points and seven rebounds to help lead the visiting Bowdoin College Polar Bears past the University of Maine-Farmington.

Kristie Royer led the Bears’ offense with 18 points.

Becky Roak led the UMF Beavers with 19 points and Jocelyn Sawyer scored 13.
