Wildlife and habitat will be the subject of a moonlight educational excursion Saturday at A Fierce Chase Ski Trails in Monson.
The guided nature tour will meet at 7 p.m. at the ski center. Following an introductory talk by biologist John Chase, participants will hit the trails on skis and snowshoes to look for wildlife tracks and sign.
Chase will lead the tour on groomed trails through forested habitat and will demonstrate canid howling, which may elicit a response from local coyotes.
The tour is open to anyone able to ski or snowshoe at a moderate pace, and is jointly sponsored by the ski center and the Natural Resource Education Center of Greenville.
Trail fees for the evening will be $4.50 per adult and $3 for those ages 9-18 and seniors over 65. Equipment rentals are available for $7.50 per adult or $3 a child.
Those seeking more information on the tour or to inquire on snow conditions, call A Fierce Chase XC Ski Trails at 997-3971. Calls are encouraged if snow or weather conditions are marginal.
