Benn, Goodness key Brewer win > Witches top Central 1-0 in 2OT

BREWER – Ashley Benn knocked in the game-winning goal with 2:35 left in the second overtime to power the Brewer Witches by the Central Red Devils 1-0 in high school field hockey Tuesday.

Emily Goodness stopped all seven of the shots she faced for 2-4-2 Brewer.

Cindy Dehm made seven saves on eight shots for 1-8 Central of Corinth.

JV: Central 3-1

Old Town 2, John Bapst 1

At Old Town, Kendall Tracewski scored the winning goal unassisted for the 8-2 Indians.

Elizabeth Saucier had an unassisted goal while Kristin Osborne stopped nine of 10 shots faced.

Kristina Atkinson scored with an assist from Courtney Freeman while Julia Sleeper faced 19 shots and saved 16 for 5-4 John Bapst.

JV: Old Town 4-0Camden Hills 2, Rockland 0

Dexter 1, Stearns 1 (2OT)

At Millinocket, Erika Haiko scored off a Missi Doody pass midway through the second half as undefeated Dexter salvaged a tie. Dexter is now 8-0-1.

Katie Nason scored for 4-3-1 Stearns in the first half off an Ashley Boynton pass.

Angie Westover made five saves for Dexter while Pam Pelletier stopped seven shots for Stearns.

JV: Dexter 3-0

Piscataquis 4, Orono 2

At Orono, Meagan Galuski scored two unassisted goals and led the Piscataquis Pirates of Guilford past the Red Riots Tuesday.

Karole-Anne Emery and Stephanie Watson each scored goals for the 6-2 Pirates. Caterina Riitano saved one of three shots.

For the 3-6 Riots, Chelsea Dwyer scored both goals, one on an assist from Veronica Gavett-Young. Susan McLaughlin made three saves on six shots.

Girls soccer

Katahdin 6, Central 0

At Corinth, Ashley Robinson scored three goals for Katahdin while

Kylee McAvoy added a goal and an assist. Krystle McMoran and Scarlet McAvoy both had goals and Lindsay Distenley had an assist while Mindy Libby faced no shots for the 5-1-2 Cougars of Sherman Station.

Jen Allen stopped 31 of the 47 shots she faced for 0-10 Central.

Orono 4, Foxcroft 1

At Dover-Foxcroft, Erica Breton and Molly Dupere scored two goals apiece as the Red Riots rolled.

Sarah Carlisle added an assist for 4-5-1 Orono while Marie Lint and Joelle Clingerman combined for three saves on six shots.

Nici Stephens scored on a penalty kick. Darcy McCormick and Megan Dow combined for 14 saves from 18 shots for the 2-7 Ponies.

Dexter 2, Schenck 1

At Dexter, Tiffany Wintle scored with 19:18 left in the game led the Tigers past the Wolverines.

Lindsay Turner had a goal and an assist for 7-1-1 Dexter and Briley Belanger turned away seven of the 15 Schenck shots on goal.

Kasey Wyman scored on a penalty kick for 3-3-2 Schenck of East Millinocket while Emily Davis made eight saves on 18 shots

Highview Christian 1, Averill 0

At Charleston, Heather Niles scored the winning goal unassisted for 4-2 Highview Christian 13:50 into the second half.

Jen Drinkwater stopped all 11 of the shots she faced for the Knights.

Sally Jenkins stopped 20 of the 23 shots she faced for 0-5 Averill of Hinckley.

Bangor 3, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Jana Savage scored two goals as the Rams rolled to their sixth win.

Melissa Achorn chipped in with a goal for the 6-1-2 winners and Emily Capehart notched an assist. Goalie Katherine Miller made six saves on 13 shots.

Sara Lowe made nine saves on 13 shots for 4-5 Nokomis.

JV: Bangor 2-0

Mount View 3, Rockland 0

At Rockland, Danielle Mayer notched her second shutout this season and the Mustangs limited Rockland to just two shots.

Emily Cochrane, Zahara Coddington, and Haylee Freeman each scored an unassisted goal for 2-5-2 Mount View.

Jessica Clark saved 17 of 25 shots for the 0-8 Tigers.

JV: Mount View 3-0

BC Pats 2, Greenville 2 (2 OT)

At Bangor, Emily Jenkins converted a Becky Fortier pass into the tying goal with just 10 seconds left in regulation to cap a Bangor Christian rally.

Renee Mick had scored 3:40 earlier, also off a Fortier pass, as the 3-5-2 Patriots overcame a 2-0 deficit. Lee-Ann Trottier made eight saves on 10 shots.

Cindy Lebel scored for Greenville and assisted on Kim Folsom’s goal. Lauren Dallan had assisted on Lebel’s goal. Jessie Craft made 18 saves on 35 shots for the 5-4-1 Lakers.

JV: Ellsworth 5, Sumner 0

Ellsworth 5, Sumner 0

At Ellsworth, Becky Lock had two goals and an assist to pace the Eagles to a win over Sumner of East Sullivan.

Katie Sirois, Rebecca Saunders, and Nicole Bedard each scored a goal for the 7-2-1 Eagles.

Bucksport 6, Hermon 0

At Bucksport, Jessie Taylor scored three goals for the 10-0 Golden Bucks while Elissa Gordon scored and had two assists.

Alice Andrews had a goal with an assist from Nichole Pacheco while Cara Pollard also had a goal and an assist. Erica Bourgon added an assist while Jana Richards stopped 21 of the 45 shots she faced for 2-8 Hermon.

John Bapst 3, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Christina Rich, Lily Krichels and Debbie Legere notched goals for the Crusaders of Bangor.

Nicole Yeo, Legere and Rebecca Stevens combined for seven saves on 11 shots. Nikki Novak, Katie Rice and Julie Crotty had assists for the 6-3-1 Crusaders.

Amy Freeman made 12 saves on 23 shots for the 1-10 Witches.

Boys soccer

Katahdin 1, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Mike Lane scored the only goal of the game to lift the Cougars over the Wolverines.

Doug Rodgerson assisted on the goal, which was scored with 23:01 left in the first half. Chris McNally stopped 19 of the 25 shots he faced for 4-4-1 Katahdin of Sherman Station.

Mike Rossignol made eight saves on nine shots for 2-7-1 Schenck.

Nokomis 2, Bangor 1

At Bangor, Derrick Graves scored both goals within 13 seconds of each other in the first half for Nokomis of Newport as the Warriors handed Bangor their second loss in two meetings.

Ryan McLellan and Shawn Henderson had assists on the goals for the 4-3-2 Warriors. Tyler Peters made 16 saves on 36 shots.

Matt Anderson scored on a Jim Shea assist 7:55 into the game for the 5-5 Rams. Brian Sing made six saves on 15 shots.

JV: Bangor 4-1

Bangor Christian 3, Greenville 1

At Greenville, Matt Conley’s two goals led the Patriots past the Lakers.

Kliton Xhemali chipped in with a goal and Matt Tyre had two assists for 10-1 Bangor Christian. Greg Patterson stop 18 of the 35 shots he faced..

Luke Knowlton had the Greenville goal.

Averill 4, Highview Christian 3

At Charleston, Joey Morriseth scored off an assist by John Chartier with one minute left in the game to lift the Beavers.

Brothers John and Jeff Chartier each scored a goal for 2-7 Averill. Glen Tenkin added a score and Anthony Almeida made 16 saves on 28 shots.

Anthony Kneeland, Nick Waite and Devan Philbrick netted goals for the 1-4 Knights. Philbrick added an assist and Dave Day made 12 saves on 18 shots.

John Bapst 4, Brewer 0

At Eastern Maine Technical College in Bangor, seven different players contributed to the Crusaders’ offensive effort as they remained undefeated.

Zev Myerowitz, Jon Rudnicki, Bryan Snyder and Matt Jameson all scored goals for 10-0 John Bapst. Taylor Lynn, Zach Means and Regan LeBlanc added assists and Bill Chapman stopped nine of the 14 shots he faced.
