BANGOR – The U.S. Department of the Interior has approved $683,984 in federal funding to upgrade visitor facilities in Acadia National Park, U.S. Rep. John Baldacci announced Thursday. Specifically, these resources will be used to perform work on the Hulls Cove Visitor Center parking lot and construct an entry pavilion. Peasley & O’Halloran Construction Co. of Ellsworth is expected to participate in the project.
“This award will enhance visitor access and enjoyment of the park. Because of the important role Acadia plays in Maine’s history, environment, quality of life and economy, it is necessary for the federal government to make these kinds of investments,” Baldacci said. “This project will benefit the many visitors to Acadia area each year.”
