DULUTH, Minn. – Husson College of Bangor advanced to the championship game of the 11th American Family Insurance Basketball Classic with a 97-83 men’s basketball victory over Northwood (Mich.) Institute here Friday night.
The 5-1 Braves will take on host Minnesota-Duluth, ranked No. 2 nationally in the NAIA, in Saturday’s 8 p.m. national championship game. Minnesota-Duluth beat Hamlin College of Minneapolis 63-41 in Friday’s other games.
Raymond Alley poured in a game-high 33 points, including five 3-pointers, to pace Husson. Scott Brown tossed in 14 points for the Braves, while Jeff Shakoor and Gerard Good scored 13 and 11 points, respectively. Brian Burrell added 8 points and 8 rebounds.
For the 2-1 Northmen, Byron Hayes netted 27 points, Kenny Houston scored 17 and Chuck Debacker contributed 10.
