Companies forge alliance Maine furniture maker to retain independence

MONSON – Moosehead Manufacturing Co. of Monson and Roxton Temple Stuart of Waterloo, Quebec, have announced the completion of a sales, marketing, distribution and manufacturing alliance.

Beginning on Jan. 1, Moosehead Manufacturing will become the exclusive distributor and sales, marketing and service agent for all Roxton Temple Stuart products in the United States.

In addition, both companies will join forces in the development of product lines to be offered in both the United States and Canada.

Both Moosehead and Roxton are privately owned companies and each will retain its independence. However, the companies will share technical knowledge, supplier information, manufacturing methods and training concepts.

“This joint venture is beneficial to both companies because we each bring different specialties to the union,” says Donald Gray-Donald, Roxton president. “The most important, however, is the collective pool of knowledge and the ability to work together to grow and compete on an international scale, while still maintaining our own independence.”

Russell Page, Moosehead’s sales and marketing manager, said: “This alliance brings together two of the great old names in New England furniture making. These two companies and the philosophies under which they operate are very much alike. That’s certainly one of the biggest reasons this partnership will work.”

Moosehead has production facilities in Monson and Dover-Foxcroft and employs 250 people. Roxton Temple Stuart has a

large manufacturing facility in Waterloo, Quebec, and has 140 employees.
