Pitcher’s 23 propel Terriers

WATERVILLE – Matt Pitcher poured in 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Wednesday night to propel Thomas College to a 64-62 men’s basketball victory over Maine Maritime Academy of Castine.

Jimmy Cardaci contributed 18 points and nine rebounds, while Scott Raymond added 14 points for the Terriers.

Jed Johnson scored a game-high 25 points and snatched 11 rebounds for the Mariners. Jon Newland provided 15 points and five steals.

At Waterville, the Terriers shot 56 percent in the second half while pulling away for the victory.

Betsy Pratt provided 17 points and 12 rebounds for Thomas, which made 11 3-pointers. Tiffany Nason scored 13 points, Heather Farrell and Katie Morrell netted 11 and Courtney Corbett grabbed 13 rebounds.

Rachel Merrill led Maine Maritime Academy of Castine with 10 points. Kate Lawler added nine points and 10 rebounds.
