Two letter writers (BDN, Dec. 9-10) express disdain for “celebrating diversity” and efforts to protect gays from discrimination. I suspect both writers, if they are old enough, were – probably still are, for that matter – similarly disdainful of efforts made decades ago to provide protection from discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, etc.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the writers and their cohorts voted no on all six referendum questions, their mind-set being, “There’ve been a lot of changes in my time, and I’ve been ag’in every one of ’em!”
