WATERBORO – A young man was in jail Monday, charged with arson and seven counts of attempted manslaughter.

Dylan DeWitt, 20, is accused of setting fire to a home on Main Street on Saturday night while seven people were inside.

No one was hurt, but the home was damaged.

DeWitt was angry because he was being kicked out of the home, said Deputy Michael Hayes of the York County Sheriff’s Department.

A female juvenile also was arrested, but her name was not released.

DeWitt was being held without bail at the York County Jail.
