CALAIS – The state Department of Conservation said a Charlotte man was fined last week in Calais District Court for cutting down seven trees without an adjacent landowner’s permission.
He cut the trees to improve his satellite television reception, the department said in a news release.
James Orr, 37, set up a dish on his Round Pond Road property earlier this year, but because surrounding trees partially blocked the reception, he cut down the taller trees.
Orr was fined $250 and must pay restitution totaling $300 to the victim, Boyd Frankland of Eastport.
Maine Forest Service Ranger Jeffrey Currier investigated the case.
