Thousand times no

What part of the word no is confusing? We, the people of Maine, have said no to Maine Yankee; we didn’t want it, we got it, we wanted it closed, it stayed open. Every year the same debate: Keep Maine Yankee open and we would scream no.

With the RESTORE project, we say no, yet the debate goes on.

With the methadone clinic in Bangor we say no, yet we are going to get it. The powers that be are political and backed with money. Money is the motivator, but it is not the motivator of Maine people.

We like our way of life and we do not choose to support the money grubbers with exchanging “the way life should be” for them. We did not want the gas pipe line from Canada, but we got it. We do not want another highway going through Maine.

The state agencies that make money and keep high-salary jobs by “creating” and promoting more government programs should move to a state that likes the seven deadly sins. Mainers are not about quick fixes and more money.
