2 vehicles collide in Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE – Two cars collided Thursday afternoon when one allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, according to local police. No injuries were reported.

Stephen Monihan, 43, of Presque Isle was driving a 1991 Ford van when he apparently failed to stop at the intersection of Main and Davis streets and entered Main Street, according to Presque Isle police Sgt. Joe Seeley.

Monihan’s vehicle collided with a 1993 Chevrolet driven by Bobby Arsenault, 26, of Presque Isle, who was driving north on Main Street, according to Seeley.

Monihan was cited for failing to yield at the stop sign, Seeley said.

The Monihan vehicle received an estimated $2,000 in damage, while the Arsenault car received an estimated $4,000 in damage.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts when the collision occurred, Seeley said.

Patrolmen Roger Ellis and Craig Holder investigated the accident. Also responding were the Presque Isle Fire Department and Crown Ambulance.
