McGlinn gives Husson sweep of Fisher

BANGOR – Jason McGlinn’s RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh drove in the winning run as Husson College took both ends of a college baseball doubleheader Friday against Fisher, 3-0 in the opener and 5-4 in the nightcap.

In the second game, McGlinn drove in Jason Folsom with his second single of the day. Folsom had reached base on a hit by pitch and advanced to third on a double by Mike Worcester. Travis Reynolds walked two and struck out seven for his first win of the season. Josh Ferguson had three singles and an RBI for the Braves.

In the opener, Barrett Dionne scattered two walks and four hits and struck out four to make him 2-2 on the season. Craig Harvey and Folsom each had single and an RBI.

Becker takes 2 from Maine Maritime

At Leicester, Mass., Kamesha Forsythe led Becker College to victory in both ends of Friday’s doubleheader, going 5-for-7 with two RBIs.

Becker topped the Mariners 8-2 in the first game and 8-5 in the second.

Kim Santangelo and Kristin Bonasoro each had two RBIs for Becker, while Brooke Robichaud and Rebecca Moulin each added one RBI.

Amanda Wells had two hits for Maine Maritime of Castine in the opener, and Alaina Hanlon and Stacey Ryan had two hits apiece for MMA in the nightcap.

Rebecca Marks (1-2) and Lindsey Mallet (3-3) earned the wins. Maine Maritime’s Janice Spear, 3-6, suffered the loss in both games.

Polar Bears blank Braves twice

At Brunswick, Bowdoin College shut out Husson 5-0 and 3-0 Friday afternoon as Jessie Poulin and Erin Hanley won both of their complete-game efforts.

In the opener, the Polar Bears scored all five of their runs in the fifth inning as five straight hits keyed the rally. Emily Rizza singled, doubled, and scored a run.

In game two, Kristi Royer was 4-for-4 for Bowdoin. She scored two runs and stole two bases.

Jamie Wells pitched both ends of the doubleheader for the Braves and took the loss in each game.
