Dunton, Thayer pace Hawks by Bucksport

HERMON – Kirk Dunton had 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Hermon Hawks to past the Golden Bucks of Bucksport 85-70 here Friday night in Class B schoolboy basketball action.

It was Hermon’s 15th victory in 16 games.

Shawn Thayer, making his second comeback try after a knee injury, scored 15 points for the Hawks. Wade Brazier had 12 points and Rick Sinclair added 10 points and 16 rebounds.

For the 3-13 Bucks, Aaron Chambers scored 29 points. Rory Kimberlin had 14 points and David Walker added 13.

At Rockland, three Tiger players – led by Jeff Woodman’s 22 points – combined for 44 points to lead Rockland to its 11th win against five losses.

Jim Montgomery added 12 points for the winners while Seth Munroe chipped in with 10. Montgomery also grabbed 13 rebounds.

For 6-10 Messalonskee of Oakland, Jason Parker scored 15 points and Dana Doran netted 10.
