ROCKLAND — A series of brown-bag colloquiums on “The Religions of the West” has been scheduled at the First Universalist Church, beginning Feb. 7. The public is welcome to attend. The cost is $5 ($8 for couples) to cover photocopying expenses.
The colloquiums will be led by the Rev. Jeffrey B. Symynkywicz, minister of the Universalist church. He is a 1981 graduate of Harvard Divinity School, where his studies centered on church history and comparative religions.
The sessions will be held in the Robbins Room at the Universalist Church at 345 Broadway. They will begin at 12:30 p.m., and conclude at about 2 p.m. The first session on Feb. 7 will deal with the Jewish tradition. The topic on Feb. 14 will be Catholicism. The Protestant tradition will be discussed on Feb. 21, and Islam will be the topic on Feb. 28.
Those who want may bring a brown bag lunch. Hot beverages will be provided. Any questions may be addressed to the church office or the parsonage.
