State Grange open house to feature blood drive

AUGUSTA – To commemorate National Grange week, the Maine State Grange is answering President Bush’s challenge of service to our neighbors and nation.

An open house, health fair and blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Maine State Grange building, 146 State St. Every two seconds someone needs blood. The biggest user group for blood is cancer patients followed by heart patients.

Health providers will be available for screening and information all day. In addition to the Red Cross blood drive, other groups present will include the Elks Club Diabetes Wagon, Maine Eye Care vision testing, Camp Ray of Hope, Kennebec Valley Mental Health, Little Herb Shoppe, American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, American Heart Association and Maine Hospice.
