A Brewer man and a Levant woman were arrested after the woman struck the man with her car in a domestic dispute, officials said.
Bangor police Officer George Spencer noticed the pair arguing on Hammond Street just before 1 a.m. Monday. The officer saw Michelle Landry, 28, back up her car and then drive forward, striking Joseph Thurston, 36, Spencer said.
Landry struggled with members of the Bangor Police Department when they attempted to arrest her but eventually was handcuffed, Spencer said. As police were subduing the woman, Sgt. Thomas Reagan noticed a plastic bag in Landry’s mouth.
Police found a usable amount of marijuana in the bag, Spencer said. Landry was charged with domestic assault, driving to endanger and possession of marijuana.
Thurston complained of injuries to his legs and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was treated and released, Spencer said. Police found that Thurston was wanted on a warrant for failure to pay fines for operating a vehicle after the suspension of his license.
At Penobscot County Jail, Landry reported pain in one of her arms and on her tailbone and told police that Thurston had thrown her to the ground earlier in the night, Spencer said. Landry was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for evaluation and Thurston was charged additionally with domestic assault.
Police still were investigating the theft of 85 hydrocodone pills Monday night after a Monroe man reported them missing from his hotel room Sunday evening, officials said.
Richard Collum, 47, returned to his hotel room in the Holiday Inn at 404 Odlin Road on Sunday after having left the room five days earlier and found the pills missing, Bangor police Officer Steve Jordan said. Police found no signs of forced entry into the room.
Two 14-year-old Enfield boys likely will have to pay $400 to $500 in restitution after damaging a camp along the Penobscot River, officials said.
The boys admitted to having entered the camp belonging to a Mountain View Youth Development Center social worker by breaking out a rear window, Maine State Trooper Phil Dawson said. The boys emptied containers of polyurethane and gasoline onto the floors of the camp, and the carpets now need to be replaced.
The boys had been on vacation from school during the week and “went too far” in their efforts to find something to do, Dawson said. The owner of the cabin on Route 2 is from Stetson.
Witnesses had spotted the boys hanging around the camp during their vacation and were the main suspects before they admitted to acts of vandalism, the trooper said. Neither of the boys had any previous criminal history.
