OCOCEE, Fla. – The University of Maine softball team split two games Tuesday, dropping the first game to the University of Missouri 7-0 before coming back to tip the University of Findlay (Ohio) 4-3.
In the first game, Ginny Crede pitched a no-hitter against the Black Bears to improve her record to 1-1 and Jo Stratmen went 2 for 3 with a single, double and a walk for the 1-2 Missouri Tigers.
The Black Bears improved to 7-10 with a win in the second game. Dorothy MacMichael was credited with the game-winning RBI on a fielder’s choice in the third inning as Mel Harris scored after singling, advancing to second on a fielder’s choice and stealing third. Harris went 2 for 3 and knocked in a run. Deb Smith collected the win on the mound to improve her record to 4-6.
