Bouchard on ECAC first team

University of Maine senior center Rachel Bouchard was named to the ECAC Division I All-Star First Team by a selection committee of media members and athletic administrators Thursday.

Eight players were named to the first team and seven to the second team.

Bouchard was earlier named a GTE Academic All-American and North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year. The Farmingdale native averaged 23.5 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Junior forward Susan Robinson of Penn State University was named the ECAC Div. I Women’s Player of the Year.

University of Vermont freshman forward Sheri Turnbull was named ECAC Rookie of the Year.

Joining Bouchard and Robinson on the first-team frontcourt are senior centers Kerry Bascom of the University of Connecticut and Kirsten Brendel from the University of Pennsylvania.

In the backcourt, sophomore Sara Behn of Boston College, senior Mary Helen Walker of Holy Cross, and juniors Tracy Lis from Providence College and Rosemary Kosiorek of West Virginia University were selected as first-team guards.

ECAC Division I member colleges include all the teams in the Atlantic 10, Big East, North Atlantic, and Northeast Conferences.
