Dexter scores four in seventh, tips Lee

DEXTER – Eric Day doubled to kick off a four-run seventh-inning rally as Dexter posted a 7-6 high school baseball win over Lee Academy on Thursday.

Ross Morrison, who went 3-for-3 with three singles and two RBIs, walked, Josh Bishop singled. Ross’ brother Kyle laced a two-run single to tie it up. Pinch runner Mike Mountain stole second base, and scored on a passed ball.

Nate Dow sparked Lee with an RBI double, and Blair Emery added two singles.

At Newport, Roger Cole cracked a solo homer as the Indians prevailed.

Chris Rand knocked two doubles, a single, and drove in a run for Old Town. Brian Tewey whacked a pair of doubles and knocked three runs. Ryan Brown ripped a triple, a single, and knocked in a run.

Justin Veazie and Ben Davis each collected an RBI single for the Warriors. Brandon Gee and Justin Nichols rapped a single each.

At Bucksport, Adam Sheehan got the Golden Bucks off and running with a first-inning solo homer as Bucksport rolled past Orono.

Abram Allard knocked a triple, a single, and drove in three runs for the Golden Bucks. Kyle Mercer rapped a double and a single.

Mike Merritt led off the game by jolting a solo homer for the Red Riots. Brandon Terrill added an RBI single.

Hampden 3, MDI 1

At Mount Desert, Evan Thomas spun a three-hitter, striking out nine and walking one to lift the Broncos.

Hampden scored two unearned runs in the sixth that proved to be the difference. Randy Oliver singled and drove in an insurance run in the seventh. Eric Libby and Kyle Dalton singled for the Broncs.

Brandon Colbeth had an RBI single for the Trojans and Jon Dow took the loss despite scattering three hits and striking out six.

At Ellsworth, Ray Hanf’s infield single in the seventh plated the game-winner for the Eagles.

Dave Dressel, who walked, stole second and advanced to third on a Matt Wood sacrifice fly, scored the winning run. Asa Jones hit two singles and an RBI, and Wood finished with a single and an RBI.

Brett Danforth led the Hawks with two singles and an RBI. Reid Frye singled and drove in a run. Phil Cayford allowed five hits, struck out nine and walked one in the loss.

At East Corinth, Seth Strout jolted a grand slam, and Joe Allen cracked a two-run homer as the Red Devils rolled.

Colby Brown rapped a two-run double for Central.

Allen Easley had two singles and knocked in a run for the Patriots. Matt Conley added an RBI double.

At Dexter, Jessie Keuster cracked a two-run triple in the top of the seventh to propel Lee.

Ashley Foster hit three singles and drove in a run for the Tigers.

Old Town 5, Nokomis 1

At Newport, Sarah Metivier spun a four-hitter, striking out nine and walking three, to help Old Town past the Warriors.

Jessica Paul drove in two runs with a triple and a single for the Indians while Metivier doubled, singled and drove in a run. Renee Thibodeau and Meghan King added a double and a single apiece.

Michelle Murray hit two singles and drove in the Nokomis run.

Bucksport 23, Orono 0

At Bucksport, Tara Tweedie had a solid day, spinning a no-hitter, striking out six and walking just two. Meanwhile, at the plate, she rapped two singles, a double, and drove in four runs as the Golden Bucks rolled.

Leah Page jolted a two-run homer for Bucksport. Alice Andrews had a trio of singles, Kelly White ripped a single and a triple, and Jessie Taylor knocked a triple.

At Mount Desert, Cheryl Morris hit an RBI single and the Broncos took advantage of eight Trojan errors to earn the win.

Jillian Yamartino doubled and singled for Hampden and Katie Lindemann added a double. Ashlea Ireland fanned seven and scattered six hits.

Bracey Barker, who struck out five in three innings of relief, led MDI with two singles and two RBIs. Becca Goff chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

At Ellsworth, Rebecca Saunders launched a grand slam as the Eagles flew past the Hawks.

Krystal Roberts laced a solo homer to go with an RBI single for Ellsworth. Jodie Merchant rapped a two-run single, Sarah Silsby had a single, a double, and scored a pair, and Tara Dyer allowed one earned run, struck out five and walked one.

Kelly Schaap sparked the Hawks with a two-run single. Morgan Burr had an RBI single, and Rachel Nightengale added two singles.

At East Corinth, Gabby Eastman cracked a triple, a single, and knocked in three runs as the Patriots plated 13 runs in the final two innings to pull away.

Heather Niles stroked two singles for the winners.

Shawna Bell belted a two-run homer to go with an RBI double for the Red Devils. Nicole Labbe rapped a triple, a single, and knocked in a run, and Terri Underhill had two singles.
