Houlton handles Tigers Ryan Schools fires two-hitter, fans 10

FORT FAIRFIELD – Ryan Schools spun a two-hitter Friday, striking out 10 and walking one, and chipped in with two singles to lead the Houlton Shiretowners to an 8-1 high school baseball victory over Fort Fairfield.

Brandon Carmichael singled twice and Jared Sylvia added a two-run single. Houlton had six unearned runs.

Jon Everett doubled and Jake Chambers singled for the Tigers.

At Thorndike, Shane Eddy had a solid outing for the Mustangs, allowing only one earned run and seven hits while striking out seven and walking one.

Trailing 3-2 in the fourth, Mount View’s Jordan Tozier doubled and was followed by RBI singles by Howard Whitcomb and Kenton Spaulding. Whitcomb added another double and Spaulding another single.

Andrew St. Clair paced Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield with a double and a single and Phil Hendrick doubled.

At Fort Fairfield, Houlton had trouble with handing out walks and Fort Fairfield took advantage.

Maranda Butler doubled in the first followed by an RBI single by Dani Searles, who led the Tigers with three singles, a double and three RBIs.

Kasey Clearly had an excellent day for Houlton, hitting four singles. Sarah Beasley singled twice.
