I am a member of the Orono-Old Town Branch of the American Association of University Women which recently held its annual used book sale. Profits from this event benefit the organization’s educational goals.
We wish to thank patrons who helped make this the most successful ever. Especially rewarding is the fact that we have helped the Bangor Job Corps with the beginning of a much-desired library. Their director of education and training was invited to come to our sale. This was the answer to our dreams, a library of excellent books suited to her students’ interests and acquired at a small price.
About 85 percent of the 350 Bangor Job Corps students are from Maine. They will benefit greatly from this offering in the years ahead.
The Orono-Old Town Kiwanis also donated books as may any interested person in the area. Contact Mary Jude, director of education and training at the Job Corps.
AAUW also welcomes donations at any time throughout the year. We are always looking ahead to the next used book sale. Anne Hathaway Orono
