The Brewer City Council has adopted a resolution asking the “United States government to maintain Loring Air Force Base and support efforts of the Maine congressional delegation to remove Loring from the military base closure list.”

The resolution states that Loring plays an important role in the defense of the United States and that Maine has shown continued support for the military.

“The economy of northern Maine is strongly related to Loring AFB and would face extreme difficulties in recovering from the effects of the base closure,” the resolution states.
