PORTLAND – UnumProvident’s last senior executive from the former UNUM Corp.’s top leadership in Portland is departing.
Elaine D. Rosen, executive vice president for customer development, announced Wednesday that she will leave next year. Rosen, 48, said she will work part time for the next 14 months as a special adviser before leaving.
Rosen said she made the decision in the fall, after it became clear that the company had stabilized after the June 1999 merger of Portland-based UNUM Corp. and Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Provident Cos.
The company went through hard times after the merger. Its stock dropped from more than $50 a share to a low of $12 early last year. On Thursday afternoon, it was trading at around $25 a share.
