CALAIS – The Old Town-Orono Twins swept a doubleheader from Calais in American Legion baseball action here Saturday with a 7-5 victory in the first game and a 14-3 win in the finale.
In the first game, a two-out, 3-run home run by David Theriault in the top of the seventh capped a 5-run rally and gave Old Town-Orono the win.
For 4-0 Old Town-Orono, Aaron King pitched the last inning and walked the leadoff hitter, but struck out the next three batters to earn his first save. Rob LeBlanc notched the win. Jim Evans hit a 2-run double in the seventh.
For 1-3 Calais, Paul Napoleoni hit a 2-run homer and singled for 3 RBIs. Travis Oakes and Bob Bronson each singled twice. Matt Cassidy struck out 11, but took the loss.
In the second game, Mitch Stone pitched a 5-hitter and struck out 8 to key the win for the Twins.
Matt Eastman hit 2 singles and a double. Jim Evans added 2 singles.
For Calais, John Francis had a 2-run homer. Buddy Sprowl hit a pinch-hit solo homer.
