BANGOR – Jodie Merchant doubled twice and drove in two runs to power the Ellsworth Eagles to a 7-3 high school softball victory over the Bangor Rams Saturday.
Mallory Patten added three singles for the winners. Becka Saunders, Tess Bickford, and Sarah Silsby each had a pair of singles for Ellsworth.
Megan Huckins had a double and three singles with two RBIs for Bangor. Rachael Dube had a double and two singles and Steph Chase doubled.

At Milo, Taralee Webster fired a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and four walks as the Vikings rolled over the Patriots.
Webster also hit two doubles and singled once. Lindsey Seekins singled twice and drove in two runs.
Michelle Mulherin tripled for Penquis and Mindy Dyer added a single.

Deer Isle-Stonington earns sweep
At Stonington, Deer Isle-Stonington had a strong inning in each of the games to earn a doubleheader sweep of Jonesport-Beals.
The Mariners won 16-11 in the first game and 14-6 in the second.
In the first game, Deer Isle-Stonington had 10 hits – including three doubles and a triple – in the first inning. Hollan Oliver hit a pair of singles and double with three RBIs. Lacy Greenlaw had four hits with three RBIs. Jen Hagerthy had three singles and a RBI for Deer Isle-Stonington.
Jody Pinkham hit a solo home run and a triple with three RBIs. Shafay Look had a trio of singles for Jonesport-Beals.
In the second game, the Mariners sent 16 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and scored 12 runs. They collected two triples, a home run and two doubles in the inning.
Heather Bray had a pair of triples and single with five RBIs. Heather Hutchinson had a two-run homer and single with two RBIs. Meghan Wiberg hit a solo home run and a single with two RBIs for Deer Isle.
Look had four hits with a RBI and Danielle Alley had three singles and one RBI for Jonesport-Beals.

At Lincoln, Corinna Taylor hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to win the game for Mattanawcook Academy.

At Milo, Matt Mercer keyed a six-run second inning with a three-run double as the Vikings bounced back from a 4-0 deficit and rolled to the win.
Nick Dakin rapped three singles and drove in three runs for the Vikings while Drew Mercier added a double, a single and two RBIs. Spencer Garton struck out 10 en route to a complete-game win.
Mike Grindle and Jordan Allen stroked two singles each for Penquis. Grindle drove in two runs and Allen one.

DI-Stonington sweeps Royals
At Deer Isle, junior Evan Haskell dominated the second game, striking out 13 and walking just two in a three-hitter that completed a doubleheader sweep of Jonesport-Beals.
The Mariners won the first game 11-6 and the second 7-3.
In the first game, Jeff Douglass rapped three singles and drove in two runs for the Mariners. Chris Gray added two singles and an RBI and Joe Trundy had a single and three RBIs.
Daren Kelley drove in two runs with a single and a double for Jonesport-Beals. Kyle Mitchell rapped three singles and Billy Merchant had two.
In the second game, Trundy drilled a two-run homer and a double for the Mariners. Josh Eaton singled twice while Gray added a single and an RBI.
Jared Alley, Billy Merchant and Leland Faulkingham had a single apiece for the Royals.

Brewer takes two from PI
At Brewer’s Heddericg Field, Matt Sargent’s run-scoring double and RBI singles by Jon Bell and Zach Bouzan-Kaloustian keyed a five-run third-inning rally that broke a 5-5 tie and capped a Brewer sweep 10-5. The Witches won the opener 7-1.
In the second game, Caleb McGary and Joel Barrett combined on a four-hitter. McGary went the first six before Barrett pitched a perfect seventh.
Bell had two singles and three RBIs; Sargent had a single to go with his double and Mike King and Bouzan-Kaloustian had two singles each. Joe Griffin had two RBIs on a base hit and sacrifice fly.
Fred Bird’s two-run single and Shane Clark’s double paced Presque Isle.
In the opener, righty Sean Collins pitched a five-hitter, striking out three and walking one, and Barrett knocked in three runs with a two-run homer and RBI triple.
Tony Doucette had two RBIs for the winners with a double and bases-loaded walk.
Clark singled twice for Presque Isle.
