Orono captures championship
ORRINGTON – Several local All-Star Little League baseball teams competed in the Orrington Little League Tournament, held Aug. 5-10.
In the championship game, Orono defeated Bucksport 10-4. Peter Munn hit a 3-run homer to lead the Orono All-Stars to the tournament title Saturday. For Orono, Barry Terrill had 3 singles and Andrew Pixley singled twice. The combined pitching of Tim Selfridge and Mike Perry preserved the Orono victory. For Bucksport, Greg Gobel drove in all 4 runs with 2 triples. Orono 23, Orrington 5
Eric Tie went 5-for-5, hitting 4 singles and a home run to advance Orono into the finals. Peter Munn had 2 singles, a double and a triple. Barry Terrill was the winning pitcher and he doubled twice and singled for Orono. For Orrington, Jason Seavey had 2 singles and a 2-run homer. Orono 14, Bucksport 2
Barry Terrill went 4 for 4 with a triple, 2 doubles and a single to lead Orono. Roby Rhoads had a double and 2 singles while getting the win off the mound. For Bucksport, Greg Gobel hit a double. Orono 3, Hermon 2
In Orono’s first game, Justin Payson scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Peter Munn had a double and single while Tim Selfridge got the win on the mound for Orono. For Hermon, Sean Smith had an inside-the-park home run and Mark Alimo doubled.
