HAMPDEN – Shawn Tidwell smacked an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning Thursday afternoon, lifting Old Town to a 10-9 schoolboy baseball victory over Hampden Academy.
Chris Guerrette belted a grand slam in the first for the Indians.
Kyle Dalton led Hampden with two single and a double while Evan Thomas had a two-run single. Kevin Brooks chipped in with a double and a single.

Craig Jackson also homered for Medomak Valley. Scott Blackler had a double and a single and Mike Beardsley had two singles and two RBIs. Winning pitcher Carlos Arteaga aided his own cause with two singles and an RBI.

At Washburn, freshman lefty Jason Thompson pitched a six-hitter and fanned 18 in eight innings and the Beavers pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on two walks and three wild pitches.
Washburn rallied from a 4-1 deficit with a five-run fourth inning, keyed by Isaac Carney’s two-run single, but Central Aroostook of Mars Hill answered with two in the top of the fifth.
Lucas Hafford had two singles for Washburn, Carney had his two-run base hit and Chris Johnston had an RBI single.
Brian Grew’s two doubles and Adam Crew’s double led Central Aroostook.

At Belfast, the Lions’ Morgan Crandall had another solid outing, tossing a four-hitter, striking out seven, walking two and allowing just one earned run as she outmatched the Black Raiders’ Missy McAvoy.
Sam Ellis smacked two singles for Belfast. Sara Flagg roped an RBI single, and Kate Ross contributed a single.
Amanda Kimball launched a pair of singles for the Black Raiders. McAvoy struck out two and walked three, and hit a single. Brittany Morin also had a single.

Hartman also spun a five-hitter in the circle, striking out 12 and walking four. Danielle Miller was hit by a pitch to start the rally. Kendil Snow followed with an RBI triple to tie it.
Snow finished with a double, triple, an RBI and two runs scored. Annie Babineau rapped two singles, and Sara Elliott had an RBI single.
Jess Kaelin singled, triple, scored a run and knocked one in for Central of Corinth. Nicole Labbe and Shawna Bell had a single each.

Watts, who struck out three and walked one, got the only run she would need in the first inning. Rachel Campbell led off with a triple to right-center field and scored on an overthrow.
Campbell and Lindsey Barlow added singles for Georges Valley.
Brann scattered three hits for Madison, striking out five and walking none. She also stroked two singles. Alex Solomon added a single.
