Tidwell single in 9th carries Indians past Broncos

HAMPDEN – Shawn Tidwell smacked an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning Thursday afternoon, lifting Old Town to a 10-9 schoolboy baseball victory over Hampden Academy.

Chris Guerrette belted a grand slam in the first for the Indians.

Kyle Dalton led Hampden with two single and a double while Evan Thomas had a two-run single. Kevin Brooks chipped in with a double and a single.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Rob Crocker stroked an RBI double as the Ponies edged the Warriors.

Aaron Sutton launched an RBI double and a single for Foxcroft Academy and Danny White doubled to support winner Josh Withee.

Mike Jacques jolted a three-run homer to go with two singles for Nokomis of Newport.

At East Millinocket, Tyler Muzzy fired a three-hitter, striking out 14 and walking two, as the Lakers beat the Wolverines.

Tom Mason led Greenville with two doubles and a single while Roy Owens singled three times. Griz Aucoin and Frank Bushey each doubled and singled, while Brian Campbell singled twice.

Andy Vaness hit an RBI single for Schenck. Adam Dempsey and Chad McLaughlin added singles.

At Hermon, Brett Danforth hit a two-run double to help give the Hawks the lead.

Phil Cayford had two singles and scored two runs for Hermon while Jason Shorey added an RBI single and a double. Brad Roy helped out with an RBI single.

Seth Mayo had an RBI on two single for Ellsworth while Aaron Kelley singled and scored a run.

At Bangor, James Gray nailed a three-run homer and singled twice with an RBI to help lead Central to victory.

Steven Strout sent home two on a double and two singles for the Red Devils.

D.J. McCleary pounded out five singles with an RBI while Matt Conley had four RBIs on a double, a triple and a single for Bangor Christian. Matt Turgeon added three singles and three RBIs.

At Waldoboro, Jamie Havener triggered a seven-run second inning with a homer and Andrew Wheelis belted a three-run homer in his first varsity at-bat to power Medomak Valley.

Craig Jackson also homered for Medomak Valley. Scott Blackler had a double and a single and Mike Beardsley had two singles and two RBIs. Winning pitcher Carlos Arteaga aided his own cause with two singles and an RBI.

Brayden Shieve doubled and singled for Messalonskee of Oakland and Jared Anicette singled twice.

At Mount Desert Island, Brian Greenleaf hit two doubles and a single for two RBIs to help lead the Trojans to the win.

Brandon Colbeth added a two-run single for MDI while Brad Dalton had two singles and an RBI.

Zev Myerowitz hit two singles for an RBI while Brian Snyder chipped in with a single for John Bapst of Bangor.

At Washburn, freshman lefty Jason Thompson pitched a six-hitter and fanned 18 in eight innings and the Beavers pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on two walks and three wild pitches.

Washburn rallied from a 4-1 deficit with a five-run fourth inning, keyed by Isaac Carney’s two-run single, but Central Aroostook of Mars Hill answered with two in the top of the fifth.

Lucas Hafford had two singles for Washburn, Carney had his two-run base hit and Chris Johnston had an RBI single.

Brian Grew’s two doubles and Adam Crew’s double led Central Aroostook.

At Fort Fairfield, Zac Philibert racked up three RBIs on two doubles and a single to power the Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Evan McGary singled twice and added an RBI. Griffin Hardy doubled. Corey Edkins fanned nine and scattered nine hits.

Jake Chambers led the Tigers with three singles. Shea Armstrong and Jesse Sayers added two singles each. Aaron Kenneson struck out nine.

At Jonesport, Scott Flannery rapped a triple and a single, and got the three-hit shutout win on the mound for the Vikings.

The game was played in Jonesport because of East Grand’s poor field conditions.

Josh Fish contributed an RBI single for East Grand of Danforth. Ryan Fish had a single.

Ben Durkee roped a single and a double for the Royals. Abraham Beal knocked a single.

At Houlton, Jared Sylvia pounded out a two-run double and two singles lead the Shiretowners to the win.

Mike Lenentine hit three singles for Houlton while Eric O’Connell and Justin Henderson had two singles apiece.

Travis Snell led Caribou with an RBI triple and a single while Adam Fowler added a two-run single.

At Belfast, the Lions’ Morgan Crandall had another solid outing, tossing a four-hitter, striking out seven, walking two and allowing just one earned run as she outmatched the Black Raiders’ Missy McAvoy.

Sam Ellis smacked two singles for Belfast. Sara Flagg roped an RBI single, and Kate Ross contributed a single.

Amanda Kimball launched a pair of singles for the Black Raiders. McAvoy struck out two and walked three, and hit a single. Brittany Morin also had a single.

John Bapst 2, MDI 1(9 inn.)

At Mount Desert, Ashley Cluff came home on a passed ball in the top of the ninth to lift the Crusaders of Bangor to victory.

Cluff also had a sacrifice fly for John Bapst. Rebecca Stevens contributed two singles.

Bracey Barker and Tayna Kane roped two singles each for the Trojans. Jessica Norwood had an RBI single.

At Hermon, Mallory Patten fired a four-hitter, walking none and striking out three, as the Eagles grounded the Hawks.

Becca Saunders stroked three singles and drove in four runs for Ellsworth. Holly Tripp laced two singles, a double, drove in three and scored three. Tess Bickford cracked three singles and knocked in two runs.

Rachel Nightengale, Jodi Reynolds and Shannon Wiggin had a single each for Hermon. Kristen Hart smacked a double.

At Bangor, Kara Hartman knocked in the winning run on a single in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Patriots edged the Red Devils.

Hartman also spun a five-hitter in the circle, striking out 12 and walking four. Danielle Miller was hit by a pitch to start the rally. Kendil Snow followed with an RBI triple to tie it.

Snow finished with a double, triple, an RBI and two runs scored. Annie Babineau rapped two singles, and Sara Elliott had an RBI single.

Jess Kaelin singled, triple, scored a run and knocked one in for Central of Corinth. Nicole Labbe and Shawna Bell had a single each.

At Orono, Sherri Capponi fired a one-hitter, giving up just one single while fanning eight and walking only one, as the Witches rolled.

Carolyn McAvoy sparked the offense with two singles and an RBI for the winners. Anna Corey roped three singles and knocked in a run.

Stacy Smith singled for the Red Riots.

At Thomaston, the Buccaneers’ Megan Watts pitched a three-hit shutout, outdueling the Bulldogs’ Cassidy Brann.

Watts, who struck out three and walked one, got the only run she would need in the first inning. Rachel Campbell led off with a triple to right-center field and scored on an overthrow.

Campbell and Lindsey Barlow added singles for Georges Valley.

Brann scattered three hits for Madison, striking out five and walking none. She also stroked two singles. Alex Solomon added a single.
