ORONO – The “Wings of the Northeast,” a cross country race for Native Americans only, will be held Oct. 27 at the Hilltop Complex Area on the University of Maine campus here beginning at 2:30 p.m.

There is no entry fee for the event for individuals 14-and-up. The race includes junior divisions, 14-19, for male and female runners, and a male and female seniors division for those 20-and-up.

Top runners will be eligible to compete in the Cross Country Championships in Boston in November.

Those eligible will include the top seven junior men’s finishers; the top four junior female finishers; and the top two finishers in the senior men’s and senior women’s division. Winners of the local event, in all divisions, will receive New Balance running shoes.

Registration can be made on site from 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m., and refreshments will be available. Anyone wishing more information may contact Mark Ranco, days, at 827-6010.
