Red Riots rout Indians in big LTC matchup

OLD TOWN – Thousands of fans ringed Victory Field here Friday night to see two unbeaten teams, expecting to witness the football show of the season – the Orono-Old Town game.

The Red Riots stole the show.

Orono’s powerful front line pushed Old Town all over the field, blazing a trail for a spectacular 223-yard performance by Zac Pelleriti as the Riots rolled to a 53-14 LTC Class

Pelleriti had 60 yards on 6 carries, including a 7-yard touchdown run. Again, he ran for the conversion.

Less than five minutes later, the Riots went 54 yards for a score. Campbell broke through a swarm of would-be tacklers at the line of scrimmage and scooted 35 yards for a TD to make it 38-8 at the 2:43 mark.

Vetelino intercepted a Richards pass on Old Town’s next play to pave the way for a 5-yard scoring run by Campbell with 11:05 to play. Commeau’s conversion rush pushed the lead to 46-8.

Orono’s starting defense held Old Town to 65 yards rushing and 70 passing yards.
