UNION – Applications are being accepted for 2002 Maine Wild Blueberry Queen. Candidates will be introduced on the opening day of Union Fair week Aug. 18.
Contestants must be 17 to 22 years old, a high school graduate, a Maine resident, single, available for appearances during reign, and sponsored by a Maine wild blueberry grower or processor. She may not hold or be vying for another title by application closing date July 19.
The winner will receive $1,000; the crown princess will receive $400; and Miss Congeniality will receive $200. The queen will participate in statewide parades and special state events, and tour blueberry processing plants.
