Machias Memorial High School

MACHIAS – Principal Terry D. Atwood has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2002. Commencement exercises will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the Machias Memorial High School gymnasium.

Zachary Edgar Richards, son of Sondra and Darrell Richards of Roque Bluffs, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2002. He plans to attend the University of Maine to study chemical engineering.

He has received the Leadership Award from Clarkson University, the Presidential Distinguished Scholars Award from the University of Maine and the President’s Award for Educational Excellence.

Mark Ethan Larsen, son of Peggy and Soren Larsen of Marshfield, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2002. He plans to attend the University of Maine to study computer science.

He has received the Maine Scholar Achievement Award and other awards and has been Student of the Month.
