Camerata Singers to sing at banquet

HOPE — The Camerata Singers, under the direction of Sandra Jerome, will perform at the Renaissance Banquet sponsored by Youth Arts at 6:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Beaver Lodge, Alford Lake.

The Camerata Singers was formed in October 1989. Six members formerly were associated with the Mid-Coast Consort and eight members were chosen by audition. The group performs choral music, both a capella and accompanied, of many styles and periods, with an emphasis on the Renaissance.

Jerome is a graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., with a major in organ and a minor in voice. She taught public school elementary vocal music for 15 years in New Jersey. In 1983 she became minister of music at the First Congregational Church of Camden. She is a composer of vocal, choral and organ music.

Tickets for the banquet are $25 a person and may be purchased at A Small Wonder on the public landing in Camden, or by calling Larrain Slaymaker at 785-4975.
